Ellen Alyse was born August 2nd at 1:19pm. She was 7 pounds 9 ounces and 20 inches long. We are thrilled that she is finally here. I wish everyone could see her. Maybe I will be able to bring her out to the school one day. She is very healthy and we are doing great. I hope everyone has had a great summer and is enjoying being back in school. I’m doing well at my new school, but already miss Ellie when I have to leave every morning. I will keep the blog up, so feel free to keep writing.

I hope everyone has had a good summer so far. We just returned from a very relaxing few days at the beach. It was great. The weather could not have been much better, and the waves were huge! The tropical storm in the Gulf caused some very high waves, which meant we got to see 25 – 30 surfers in the water. It was a fun trip, but it would have been nice to stay for a few more days. Does anyone have any exciting plans this summer? I have a workshop (conference) that starts this Tuesday and goes until next Friday. That’s a bummer, but hopefully I will learn a lot from it. I’m hoping to get many good ideas to help me be a better teacher. I’ll talk to you later.

Well, Spring Break is over. It sure went fast, didn’t it? If you would like, feel free to share with us what you did over the break. First, I’ll tell you about mine. I spent the first part of the break in Gainesville, Florida. My parents live there, and many friends also. It sure was nice to see everyone. I only go back a couple of times a year, so it’s always exciting to see how much things have changed. I came back to Birmingham on Wednesday. I spent the next few days running errands and thinking about returning to school. This weekend, we did something that was fun. We painted Ellen’s nursery. It took some time, but we are very pleased how it turned out. I hope she enjoys it once she arrives. Overall, it was a very good break. I am looking forward to what’s in store this week. Don’t forget that Mr. DeSpain is coming on Friday. I think that is going to be a great experience for us all. I hear that he is a terrific storyteller. Well, I’m looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow. I hope you have had a fun and restful break. We only have 5 more weeks until the end of school. Isn’t that amazing? Let’s finish the year on a positive note.
